I dislocated my right shoulder last Sunday, the 7th of December.
I’m striking that out from my bucket list.
My doctor, who turned out be a triathlete and a sports doctor, understood my situation and recommended at least six weeks in a sling, to not move my shoulder much and then a checkup after the six weeks are over. No biking until then which was fine by me as my shoulder is too sore for me to hold the bike properly. He also told me how to fall from a bike in the situation that I found myself in — to twist and land on my back.
In the meantime, for the next six weeks or so, I’m a lefty. And not a very good one. Beware.
27 January 2015 update: My doctor declared me good to go and has ‘discharged’ me. I just need to do some stretching exercises as physical therapy for my right shoulder for the next few weeks until I get the full range of motion back. Yay!
