The King of Benavides
I saw him blankly facing the wall in front of him, with an expressionless face and tired eyes. He was probably daydreaming or recalling happier times. He saw me pointing the camera at him and made the effort of straightening himself up a little and gave me that smile. Photo taken, he stuck out his hand to me. I gave him a small token and said, “Salamat po sa ngiti.” [Thank you for the smile.]
I didn’t see him there the last time I passed by.
