four months on linux

ubuntuit has been four months since i’ve started using ubuntu linux almost exclusively and a little over two since i last opened my windows machine.

i have been able do and finish the same work that i did with the windows machine. i can open microsoft’s document formats, edit html and image files, play my music and watch videos. there is, of course, the learning curve but it was thankfully short for me. there were small glitches but the ubuntu forums was a great help in that regard.

my windows machine (and windows itself) has become the alternative operating system. i just can’t ditch it just yet though. i still want to play a game or two that i have which are woefully windows-based. if blizzard decides to port their games to linux, well, i’ll get the diablo ii: lord of destruction please and maybe one of the need for speed series of electronic arts. ;)

i know i can probably run them (with great difficulty) on a virtual machine or a windows emulator but that route consumes more computer resources and i have an old (by today’s standards) machine. i just think that running games natively is just better.

i realize that its the games that keeps me living with windows even if i don’t use it that often.
