project fixie: the list revisited

its been a while since my last post about my fixie/ss project and since its a new year, i think its time i revisited it. there have been some improvements but, as expected, things are a little slow due to either lack of funds or the absence of fixed gear parts.
the begging list:
- road frame (*1)
fixedgear hubs/flip-flops/single speed hubs(*3)
- 700c rims (*2)
- pedals
- headset (*1)
- bottom bracket (*1)
- cranks
- seatpost
saddle- front brake caliper
- front brake lever
handlebar(*4)
- sprocket and lockring/single speed freewheel (*3)
- did i forget anything else?
if you’d like to donate a used item that on the list to this project, send me mail. i’ll try make it worth your while.
notes:
- someone is selling me an old steel custom frame. it comes with a headset, stem, square taper bottom bracket and some loose parts from the brakeset. the rear drop outs are vertical so if i decide to get it i may have to have the drop outs replaced.
- i have two araya 27″ rims — one has a big taco and the other one has a tiny little taco. i’m not sure if the first one can still be fixed but i think the second one still has a life. i have to check with the lbs.
- i got a pair of unused suzue hubs for free. yey! the rear is for single speed though. but i’m still hoping for a rear fixed gear hub. but this is great!
- i decided to replace the handlebars i have with the bullhorns i got from christy’s and i like using it so i guess the handlebars will be for the project now.
i’ll update this page as additions come in.
